My coaching career began in 1989 and has encompassed all levels of the game from grassroots to Scottish Premiership. I am currently Manager of Penicuik Athletic in the East of Scotland Premier League. For over a decade I have Managed Clubs in Semi-Professional Football in Scotland and been involved with developing Youth Footballers within an educational context. Success during this time includes winning the 2006 Scottish Third Division Championship with Cowdenbeath FC, two(back to back 2008 & 2009) top six finishes in the Scottish Premier League with Hibernian FC, 2015 Scottish Junior Cup Finalist with Musselburgh Athletic and establishing Scotland’s first full time educational Football Performance Program between 2009 and 2017. During this time I have also been able to work with coaches who have gone on to Manage at full International level and Manage teams in top flight football across the globe.
As a Coach/Manager a quality I possess is building relationships. This allows me to incubate a performance driven environment where every individual involved is empowered to perform. Every player, member of football staff and general staff of the clubs I have worked for have felt valued during my tenure as Manager and many have remained friends and colleagues. This quality has allowed myself and people around me develop their potential and progress in the game. Indeed over the last decade I would estimate that working alongside me and respective coaching teams I have enabled nine players to gain professional contracts at clubs in the Scottish Football League and have also been instrumental in developing a number of players coaching careers. Additionally I have been fortunate enough to help players develop to get life changing moves, particularly during my time at Cowdenbeath FC and Hibernian FC. At the former it was players gaining fulltime football and at the latter it was players making moves from the Scottish Premiership to the English Premiership.
