Football Careers is proud to support the FA's Mentee Development Programme
- The initiative focuses on helping coaches from underrepresented groups break into and advance within professional football
- Football Careers Directors Piero Carrino and Stewart Macgregor will deliver targeted guidance on CV building, job market navigation, and interview preparation
Football Careers is pleased to deliver ongoing career support to participants of the FA’s Mentee Development Programme, a key initiative within England Football Learning’s inclusion strategy.
Our Directors Piero Carrino and Stewart Macgregor will meet with this season’s cohort at Wembley on 9 April to lead a masterclass on navigating the job market, creating a standout CV, and preparing for interviews.
Launched in 2022, the FA’s Mentee Development Programme aims to address the inequalities faced by coaches from underrepresented groups by providing opportunities for them to grow and thrive in football.
The initiative entails a season-long placement geared towards accelerating mentees’ development and helping them break into the professional game, with each coach following a bespoke blended learning programme.
Mentees have the chance to observe England’s national team camps, participate in study visits to professional clubs, and complete their Talent ID Level 2 qualification, all while benefiting from season-long one-to-one mentoring.
The programme also receives support from The League Managers Association (LMA), whose members share their insights and expertise with mentees in professional development sessions. This year, mentees will hear from experienced manager Chris Hughton, ex-Arsenal star Rachel Yankey, and former Peterborough United assistant manager Kieran Scarff.
Alumni of the FA’s Mentee Development Programme have gone on to excel in roles at the domestic and international levels across men’s and women’s football.
Amber Whitely is currently a First Team Assistant Coach at Liverpool Women, and Laura Kaminski clinched Crystal Palace Women’s promotion to the WSL during her time as Head Coach. She now manages SK Brann, which competes in Norway’s top flight of women’s football.
Mentees Emily Senior and Taff Rahman both secured full-time positions with the FA. Emily serves as Women’s Talent Game Coach Developer, while Taff is an FA Youth Coach Developer within the talent pathway.
After working as an Analyst and Assistant Coach with Pakistan’s senior national team, Trishan Patel returned to the UK and now holds a coach development role with the Bedfordshire FA.
We’re delighted to continue working with the FA on its Mentee Development Programme, and we look forward to supporting this season’s cohort as they progress in their careers.
