Assistant Director of Soccer

THE ROLE

The St. James Soccer is actively seeking an Assistant Director of Soccer based out of the Springfield, VA flagship location.

The St. James is the premier sports, wellness and active entertainment destination in the country, with 450,000 sq. ft. of developmental and competitive programs, teams and opportunities in more than 20 sports, and a wide range of premium fitness, wellness and entertainment experiences.

The Director of Soccer will be responsible for the overall leadership of the soccer program within The St. James soccer ecosystem, including business planning, development of instructional content, coaching of athletes and supervision of coaches and assistant personnel. The Assistant Director of Soccer will work closely with both the Director of Soccer, General Manager and Senior Director of Sports at The St. James to develop and operate the leading soccer program in the Greater Washington Region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in managing The St. James Soccer P&L across all business verticals (teams, camps, clinics, leagues, rentals and programming)
• Assist in managing competitive soccer teams competing in the Girls Academy league (U13-U19) and TSJ FCV United Teams (U8 – U19) in the North (Loudoun County) and South (Fairfax County)
• Develop the instructional curriculum for soccer players of all ages and skill levels and evaluate and document the development of athletes in the soccer programs
• Manage existing youth and adult soccer leagues
• Assist in building a competitive tournament landscape for the business utilizing 3rd party rental facilities and execute the operations and logistics (i.e. mobilization, scheduling, referee assignment, ticketing, merchandising. demobilization)
• Lead partner relationships with Third Party Rental Partners and other regional stakeholders
• Assist the Director of Soccer in the development of program schedules and maximize the utilization of facilities (internal and external)
• Oversee coaches and the development of athletes through coach development and ongoing education.
• Organize and supervise athletes and coaches in connection with camps, leagues and tournaments .
• Lead business planning for the soccer program, including budgeting, driving revenue and managing expenses
• Help maintain soccer equipment and supplies
• Develop and sustain positive relationships with athletes, families and guests of The St. James
• Serve as a brand ambassador for The St. James in the community and maximize the exposure and growth of the soccer program at The St. James
• Follow all safety policies of The St. James and contribute to a work environment that is clean, safe and filled with positive energy for all athletes, coaches and families
• Help The St. James Sponsorship Team target and fulfill soccer-specific Sponsorship opportunities
• Additional duties as required
• On field coaching duties as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Five or more years of successful coaching, administrative, management, or similar experience in soccer with demonstrated leadership ability
• USSF A or B License preferred (or international equivalent)
• Past P&L management experience preferred
• Familiarity with the youth soccer landscape in the Greater Washington Region
• Ability to plan, organize, lead, and troubleshoot daily operations, services, and safety of all soccer programs
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Background check and drug screen required
