The role

Football Careers is delighted to bring to market the position of Head First Team Performance Analyst at Cardiff City FC. This role involves overseeing and leading the daily workflow of the first team performance analysis department to provide thorough and creative insights into technical performance data and tactical video footage, in order to meet the needs and demands of the management and playing staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for creating and sustaining a highly driven and innovative performance analysis department to meet the demands of management and playing staff at the elite-level of professional football.
• Undertake a lead role within the daily workings of first team squad, operating in a prominent role within the strategic game planning process.
• Manage, mentor and supervise the work of other members of the Performance Analysis Department and provide support and assistance with professional development.
• Compile an exhaustive, and detailed review of all upcoming league and cup opponents. Outline principles of play, specific movements patterns and individual details across all moments of the game, including a complete breakdown of strengths and weakness in and out of possession, as well as attacking and defensive set plays, through both video and written documentation.
• Studying, and organising clips of wide-angle video footage through Hudl SportsCode. Daily video editing, to compile video reports on team and individual concepts. Creative use of Hudl Studio to add graphics, telestrations, and organisers to structure presentations together.
• Compiling interactive and documented team reports, containing typed detailed notes of tactical concepts, technical performance data and video footage, to allow for advanced information feedback.
• Competently present department findings to playing and coaching staff within both casual and formal meeting room and training pitch scenarios.
• Provision of live match day and post-match coding to provide instant video feedback from specifically designed code windows. Direct live communication with coaching staff to discuss proposed team and individual instructions. Produce stacked movie packages with multiple angles for detailed reviews both in game, and post-match.
• Relentlessly help progress the department forward with current and up to date workflows, introducing new software partners, as well as more productive infrastructure and hardware, across several club sites.
• In coordination with the Head of Football Operations, manage the department budget.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and the security and protection of confidential information.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the First Team Manager and Head of Football Operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

• A Sports Science or Sports Coaching degree.
• A minimum of three years’ experience at 1st team level of a professional football club.
• Previous experience of developing and managing other people.
• A strong understanding and experience of industry leading analysis software including Sportscode, Hudl, Wyscout, Opta.
• Possess exceptional IT skills; being efficient both on Apple and Windows platforms.
• An understanding of current tactical trends & working requirements within professional football.
• Having a strong work ethic, with the internal drive to consistently push the department forward. Be able to operate effectively under your own initiative and as a team member. Anticipate and prioritise different workloads. Adapt quickly and have flexible attitude.
• Excellent organisation, time management, verbal and written communication skills. Communicate concisely, assertively and effectively with various professional disciplines and at all levels of the organisation.
