The Club

Football Careers are working on a retained basis with AFC Fylde to recruit a Head of Medical. The National League side are looking for someone with a wealth of experience and a desire to drive standards and continuous improvement.

Reporting into the Director of Football and the 1st team Head Coach, you will be responsible for the managing of both the fit and injured players, leading the club’s medical department and also overseeing both the Women’s team and the Academy.

The Position

The main duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • At all times be an ambassador for the club, building strong relationships with supporters.
  • Be a positive member of the team, sharing ideas and participating in team spirit, and be loyal to and supportive of colleagues including any temporary members of staff.
  • Undertake training and development identified as required in reviews and appraisals.
  • Attend internal meetings as required and prepare all necessary information and follow up
  • Implement injury prevention strategies based on the results of the most common time loss injuries as identified by the injury audit above.
  • Plan and deliver annual screening and physical testing for first team players (CMJ, yo-yo, Y balance).
  • Ensure players with significant previous injury history receive an ongoing management plan to prevent recurrence wherever possible.
  • The accurate diagnosis and prognosis of injured players.
  • Formulate and manage a clear and comprehensive rehabilitation plan with clear objective markers for progressions and return to training/play for injured players.
  • Provide clear daily updates for FTHC/AC and Sport Science department
  • Provide the chairman and vice chairman along with DoF with weekly updates and reports on the status of injured players

The Person

The successful candidate will have a wealth of experience of physiotherapy in the men’s professional game. Ideally in a similar position. You will act with honesty and integrity, demonstrate high standards of personal conduct, and value and respect all members of the playing and football staff. Holding a suitable medical degree is essential, and you will hold a full UK driving licence.
