We now require a Lead Academy Sports Scientist to take an important role in our team and join our Academy Sports Science department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (KPIs)

  • Assistance in the design of department programme delivery for all academy players.
  • Lead match-day procedures.
  • To lead with all Sports Science testing, data collection and analysis within the Academy.
  • Data collection and analysis of player anthropometric assessments, including predictive height analysis, stature and decimal somatotyping.
  • Monitoring of player data for peak height velocity and maturation.
  • Collection and analysis of daily condition monitors, and appropriate interventions where necessary.
  • Execution of physical attribute testing procedures, data collation and analysis, including player reviews and relevant intervention prescriptions.
  • Implementing the physiological development programme and training load analysis.
  • Lead the design of the athleticism programmes and manage the implementation of the programmes with Academy S&C Coaches.
  • Assisting S&C Coaches and Physiotherapists in the design, planning and implementation of return-to-play, pre-habilitation, rehabilitation and strength & conditioning programmes.
  • Player, parent, and coach education regarding nutrition, hydration and recovery.

Essential Skills

  • BSc in Sports Science (or a specialism of)
  • BFAS or equivalent
  • Extensive experience of developing players across all phases in an Academy environment.
  • Understanding of the requirements to play Professional football, at all levels.

Desirable:

  • Post-graduate qualification in Sports Science (or a specialism of)
  • IFAS
