Job Role

Lead on the identification, profiling, and evaluation of potential player targets for the First Team and affiliated clubs within the ownership group. The role will focus on in-depth scouting and analysis across domestic and international markets, leading the technical scouting team to manage the club’s overall recruitment strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the scouting and player profiling process for the First Team and affiliated clubs within the ownership group, integrating data-driven analysis with both live and video-based assessments.
  • Produce comprehensive scouting reports and detailed player dossiers to inform and support recruitment decisions.
  • Manage the Technical Scouting Department, including oversight of Senior Scouts, Technical Scouts, and Interns.
  • Deliver departmental objectives through effective planning, evaluation, and staff management.
  • Foster professional development and growth opportunities within the recruitment team.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce efficient systems, policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Set strategic objectives, identify trends and insights, evaluate options, and monitor outcomes to refine recruitment strategies.
  • Maintain and manage the club’s positional databases, contributing to the evaluation of potential transfer targets.
  • Prepare and present video analysis packages on recruitment targets.
  • Recommend players for further observation by senior management staff.
  • Collaborate with the Recruitment Data Analyst to produce statistical comparisons between current squad members and prospective signings.
  • Attend live matches to assess and report on potential transfer targets.
  • Coordinate external scouting assignments and ensure alignment with departmental goals.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of internal data tools and scouting systems.
  • Compile in-depth dossiers on shortlisted players for use by technical and executive staff.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the club’s player pool across all age groups.
  • Participate in recruitment meetings and strategy sessions as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Head of Recruitment or Management Team.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • A minimum of three years’ experience at 1st team level of a professional football club.
  • Previous experience of developing and managing other people.
  • In-depth knowledge of players and teams across key leagues and levels, with an ability to translate observations into tactical and individual performance insights.
  • Proven experience using scouting and analysis tools such as Wyscout, HUDL, Sportscode.
  • Familiarity with data-driven platforms (e.g., Statsbomb, SkillCorner, ScoutHub, TransferRoom) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a flexible and proactive mindset.
  • Experience preparing and presenting scouting reports to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Professional conduct with strong discretion and confidentiality.
