Alan Tate joins Brøndby IF as Assistant Coach to Steve Cooper
- Tate previously worked with Steve Cooper at Swansea City, Nottingham Forest, and Leicester City
We’re thrilled to see client Alan Tate join Steve Cooper at Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF. On a three-year deal, Tate joins as Assistant Coach to the former Nottingham Forest manager.
Brøndby currently sits fourth in the Superliga, with four wins and three losses in the opening seven games. They parted ways with former Head Coach Frederik Birk after narrowly missing out on Conference League football with a 2-3 aggregate defeat to Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.
Tate had a sixteen-year playing career that began in 2000, where he featured for sides such as Swansea City and Crewe Alexandra before retiring at Welsh club Port Talbot Town. His playing career saw him win a League One title, the League Cup, and the Championship play-offs with the Swans, as well as a League Cup in Scotland with Aberdeen.
The ex-defender began his coaching career in Swansea, working with the Under-16s and Under-18s. In 2019, he joined Steve Cooper’s backroom team at the club, taking up the role of Assistant First Team Coach.
Tate later followed Cooper to Nottingham Forest in 2021, then Leicester City in 2024.
Speaking to Brøndby’s club media, Tate said:
“For me, Brøndby IF is a club with a strong and proud history. As a young player at Manchester United, I clearly remember the Brøndby team from the group stage in ’99, and for me it is a picture of what a great club is – a club that competes in the Champions League.
“Therefore, it is a big day for both me and my family that I can now become part of Brøndby IF as an assistant coach. For me, it is about respecting and building on the club’s traditions, while taking on the challenge of winning matches and competing for trophies.”
We’re absolutely delighted for Alan and his new role, and we wish him, Cooper, and Brøndby all the best in the coming seasons.
