Charlie Mulgrew and Gordon Young Join Hamilton Academical

Football Careers is delighted to say that clients Charlie Mulgrew and Gordon Young have joined Scottish League One side Hamilton Academical.

Mulgrew, who had a playing career that included a six-year spell at Celtic in which he won five league titles, as well as picking up 44 caps for Scotland, retired from football this summer, after a spell with Doncaster Rovers. He comes in as Hamilton’s under-18’s coach for their Elite Youth Academy. He will be crucial role in nurturing and developing the next generation of talented young footballers at the club.

Young will be coming in as the club’s Academy Director. He brings with him a wealth of experience in that position, having spent over 10 years as Academy Manager at nearby Motherwell and a stint at Sheffield United in the same position. He then went on to be an Assistant Manager at several clubs, most recently at Cove Rangers.

In an interview with Hamilton’s media team, Young stated:

“I was particularly impressed with the direction the club want to go in and this is the type of project that excites me.”
