Chris Burke’s Kilmarnock clinch the Scottish FA Youth Cup
- Kilmarnock last won the competition over two decades ago
- Burke had a long playing career, featuring for clubs like Rangers, Birmingham City, and Kilmarnock

Football Careers is thrilled to see client Chris Burke win the Scottish FA Youth Cup with Kilmarnock. It’s the first time the East Ayrshire club have won the competition in over twenty years.
Burke — who manages the side — named an unchanged starting eleven from their previous fixture. They faced off against Dundee in the final at Hampden Park on 30th April.
After a cagey start, Kilmarnock gained an early advantage, scoring after fourteen minutes as Duncan Barlow pounced on a corner and sent the ball into the goal. Both teams had chances but Killie sealed the win in the 77th minute, with Reuben Cooper cutting inside and firing home.
It was a particularly proud day for the Burke family, as Chris’s son Cole featured in the side that won at Scotland’s national stadium.
Chris has been coaching at Kilmarnock since his retirement from playing in 2022. He spent his final five years as a player at Killie.
Prior to that, Chris enjoyed a 20-year playing career that saw him play for boyhood club Rangers, as well as Cardiff City, Birmingham City, Nottingham Forest, Rotherham United, and Ross County. He also featured for Scotland seven times, scoring twice. Chris won both the league (2004-05) and League Cup (2007-08) with Rangers.
This is a monumental achievement for Kilmarnock, who last won the competition in 2004-05 with a team starring players such as Steven Naismith, Cammy Bell, and Jamie Hamill.
We’re extremely pleased for Chris and everyone involved at the club, and wish them all the success in the future.
