Dave Rogers lands new role in Coventry City's Academy
- Rogers was most recently Head Coach of Maltese side Balzan FC
- As YDP & U15/16 Lead Coach, he is now tasked with developing the next generation of talent at Coventry City

Dave Rogers has been appointed YDP & U15/16 Lead Coach at Coventry City FC.
A UEFA Pro Licence holder, Rogers has a wealth of experience in elite football and was most recently Head Coach of Maltese side Balzan FC. He has also worked with clubs in Ireland, the USA, and India at the first-team level.
In 2015, during his three-year stint in India, Rogers took up his first role on the international stage as assistant manager to Stephen Constantine. That year, India claimed the SAFF Championship, marking the country’s first major international football trophy in over three decades.
Before turning his focus to coaching, Rogers enjoyed a 20-year playing career that saw him win multiple league titles in Scotland and Ireland. The former centre-back made 42 appearances in UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup games, captaining several of the teams he was a part of.
Rogers began coaching while playing for SC Cambuur in 2002, training the Dutch side’s youth footballers.
Since then, he has worked with burgeoning players at a range of clubs, including Nottingham Forest — where he was U21 Lead Coach and U23 Assistant Manager — and Shelbourne FC, as Assistant Manager for the U21 squad. The skilled coach has also held several positions with Liverpool FC’s International Academy, where many footballers under his tutelage earned call-ups to national teams.
Now, in his new role with Coventry City, Rogers will use his knowledge and experience to develop and support the club’s Youth Development Phase players. The Category 2 Academy has a history of producing top talent, with England internationals James Maddison and Callum Wilson counted amongst its graduates.
Rogers said of the appointment:
“To be tasked with the development and progression of such an important age group is a fantastic honour for me personally, and a proud and privileged moment for my family.
“The welcome I have received from everyone at the Academy and club from the moment I arrived has been amazing, and to be part of an already established and authentic group of people and staff is inspiring and encouraging.”
