- Imrie moves to Raith Rovers from Scottish Championship rivals Greenock Morton
- During his playing career, Imrie made over 400 appearances for Scottish teams such as Inverness CT, Hamilton Accies, and St Mirren
Football Careers are thrilled to see client Dougie Imrie appointed as manager of Raith Rovers. He joins the Kirkcaldy side from Scottish Championship rivals Greenock Morton.
Imrie had been in charge of Morton since December 2021, and was named the Scottish Championship’s Manager of the Month during his first two months in charge. He kept Morton in the Championship during every season of his tenure, despite working with a smaller budget than the majority of clubs in the league. Prior to his first managerial role, Imrie was First Team Coach and Head of Professional Programmes for Livingston.
His playing career lasted fifteen years and saw him make over 400 appearances for a number of clubs in his home country of Scotland, including Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Hamilton Academical, and St Mirren.
Speaking to the media, Imrie said of his appointment:
“I’m seriously delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started today. The ambition of the Board and the supporters was clear from the first conversation. I know the squad, I know the league, and I want to get this group believing and achieving again. My aim is to reconnect the club and the supporters, play with intensity, and get this team winning games again. I want to get this place rocking.”
Rovers Chairman Colin Smart added:
“From the moment we began our discussions, it was clear that Dougie was the standout candidate to take this club forward. His drive, ambition, and energy, along with his CV, aligned with our vision in what we want Raith Rovers to be.
“We’re delighted to welcome Dougie and his assistant Andy Millen to Stark’s Park, and we’re all looking forward to working closely with them in the months and years ahead.”
Imrie made his managerial debut with Raith Rovers on 29th November, progressing to the fourth round of the Scottish Cup after a 1-0 victory over Alloa Athletic. Raith Rovers currently sit sixth in the Championship after sixteen games, just three points behind fifth-place Dunfermline Athletic.
We’re excited to see what the future holds for Dougie and Raith Rovers.
