Gordon Forrest Hired at Shenzhen Peng City FC
- Forrest helped Hearts qualify for the 2024-25 UEFA Conference League Group Stage
- He's joined the Chinese Super League side on an initial six-week contract
Football Careers are thrilled to see client Gordon Forrest join Chinese Super League side Shenzhen Peng City FC. He will join the club as an Assistant for their remaining games in the league.
The side – who play at the Shenzhen Bao’an Stadium – have endured a difficult season, and currently sit just one point above the relegation zone. Forrest has been brought in to help navigate the three remaining games in the season, including against Meizhou Hakka – who they sit just above in the table.
This move sees him join the highly regarded City Football Group, who own thirteen clubs worldwide, including Shenzhen Peng City. The move is in an initial six week one for Forrest, but this presents a unique opportunity to work in a different culture and environment, challenging his clear talents.
He was most recently at Heart of Midlothian for just over four years, as Assistant Manager. During his time at the Edinburgh club, he helped the side qualify for the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League, finish 3rd in the 2023/24 SPFL and won the 2020/21 SPFL Championship. He has also previously been in the same role at Dundee United, First Team Assistant Manager & Head of High-Performance at MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps and Regional Manager/Women’s National Team Assistant Coach/National Talent Centre Director at New Zealand Football.
Forrest is a coach who is always looking to push and challenge themselves, as evidenced by his work in different football cultures in Europe, North America, Oceania and now Asia. He has also worked tirelessly to gain his qualifications, as evidenced by his gaining his UEFA Pro Licence in December 2018.
We’re thrilled that Gordon has returned to football so quickly and taken on such an interesting role. We look forward to watching his progress over the next six weeks and wish everyone at Shenzhen Peng City FC the best in their search to retain their Chinese Super League status.
