Jack Cassidy leads Portland Timbers 2 in 2026 MLS NEXT Pro campaign
- Cassidy used Football Careers' CV services to help him land his managerial role at the MLS NEXT Pro side
Football Careers client Jack Cassidy is currently leading Portland Timbers 2 in their 2026 MLS NEXT Pro campaign. Cassidy joined the club in January 2026, having previously been First Team Assistant Coach at AaB Fodbold of the Danish 1st Division.
The 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season began for Portland Timbers 2 on 1st March. Cassidy oversaw a win in his first game in charge, with a 2-1 victory over San Jose Earthquakes. The following match saw Timbers 2 win on penalties after a 0-0 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps. MLS NEXT Pro matches that are tied after 90 minutes go directly to a penalty shootout, with the winners receiving two points and the losers receiving one.
After a 5-0 loss to third-place Houston Dynamo 2, Portland will be looking to bounce back with games against LAFC 2, North Texas, and Real Monarchs in their next three fixtures.
Cassidy likes to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, focusing on his team playing exciting and attacking football. 19-year-old Noah Santos has been a standout player early in the season.
Throughout his career, Cassidy has concentrated on developing young talent, having been a Development Coach and Pathways Manager at Cambridge United, Academy Head Coach at Al Jazira, and Lead Youth Development Phase Coach at Luton Town.
Cassidy worked closely with Football Careers to redesign his CV, which helped him land his role at Portland Timbers 2. When asked about his experience so far, he said:
“There is strong quality across players and staff here in the US, and I am really enjoying the environment, the professionalism within the club, and settling into life in Portland. My main focus is helping players bridge the gap to the senior game, where I feel my experience adds value.”
Football Careers is thrilled to see Jack taking on this new challenge in Portland. We wish him and the club all the success in the coming seasons.
