Liam Fox named Head Coach of Sporting JAX
- Fox has previously coached at Hearts, Livingston, Cowdenbeath, and Dundee United
- He will be the first-ever Men's Head Coach of the club, which will make its USL Championship debut in 2026
Liam Fox has been named Sporting JAX’s first-ever head coach. The North Florida side will debut in the USL Championship in March 2026.
Before moving into coaching, Fox enjoyed a 15-year playing career, featuring in midfield for clubs like Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Livingston, and Raith Rovers (where he won the Scottish Challenge Cup in 2013-14).
His coaching career began in 2015, with him joining boyhood club Hearts in a backroom role. Fox then managed Cowdenbeath from 2016 to 2017 before returning to Hearts as a First Team Coach.
He has also been Assistant Manager of Livingston, Assistant Manager of Dundee United, and a First Team Coach at Aberdeen. In 2023, Fox rejoined Hearts to lead the B team before becoming part of the first-team coaching staff.
Mark Warburton, Sporting JAX’s Head of Soccer, commented:
“Liam is a tremendous addition to Sporting Club Jacksonville, he’s a coach who understands the modern game and the importance of developing a clear, positive identity on and off the pitch. His energy, his communication with players, and his commitment to attacking soccer make him the ideal leader to launch our USL Championship journey. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Jacksonville.”
Steve Livingstone – the club’s president and CEO – said:
“Liam’s experience, values, and coaching philosophy perfectly match our vision for Sporting JAX. He’s passionate about player development and delivering a style of soccer that our fans will enjoy. This is a major step forward for our men’s team and for professional soccer in Northeast Florida.”
We’re delighted for Liam as he takes on this new challenge, with the chance to build something special with Sporting JAX.
