Mark Jackson’s Central Coast Mariners Win A-League Grand Final
- The Mariners defeated Melbourne Victory 3-1 after extra time in Gosford
- It secured a historic trophy treble in Australian football for Jackson's side
A huge congratulations are in order for Football Careers client Mark Jackson as his Central Coast Mariners side won the A-League Grand Final, becoming the first ever Australian team to win a trophy treble. It’s been a historic season for the Mariners, who — alongside winning the Grand Final — also picked up the Premiership (having the best regular season record) and enjoyed continental success, winning the AFC Cup.
Jackson’s side won the Grand Final on home turf in Gosford against a spirited Melbourne Victory side. The Mariners found themselves just moments away from losing the final after Victory had put themselves 1-0 up just after half time. Yet in the 91st minute, a brilliant team move was finished off by Ryan Edmondson to take the game to extra time.
Goals from Miguel Di Pizio and another for Ryan Edmondson meant the side picked up their second Grand Final victory in two years and secured a historic Australian season.
In the regular season they picked up the best record and Premiership title by two points, powered by a balanced side that had far and away the best goal difference in the division. In the AFC Cup, they defeated Lebanese side Al-Ahed 1-0 in Muscat, thanks to a goal from academy graduate Alou Kuol.
We’re thrilled for Mark Jackson and his side and wish them all the success for the 2024/25 campaign.
