Flannery brings with him a wealth of experience in coaching. His most recent role was as a Country Manager (Eire) for Cruyff Football, an organisation that are…
“Committed to preserving and perpetuating Johan Cruyff’s footballing legacy by serving as a guiding beacon for the future of football, inspiring and nurturing generations to uphold his principles.”
He has also held roles as Under 15’s and Under 17’s Head Coach (as well as Assistant Head Coach to the latter) at League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers, Head Football Coach at the National University of Ireland and time as both a Under 15’s Head Coach and First Team Coach at Galway United.

Academy football in England is something that he is well versed in, having spent time at Manchester United, Salford City and Bolton Wanderers’ youth programmes in the professional game. Accrington currently sit in 21st place in League Two, having finished just above the relegation zone in the same division last year. Mikey will come in with a fresh perspective, and will be tasked with securing the club’s future – ushering the development of players for the club.
We’re incredibly excited at Football Careers for Mikey’s next step, and believe this role is a perfect fit for his skillset and experience. We wish him and Accrington all the best in the coming years.
