Pa-Modou Kah Appointed Head Coach of Phoenix Rising
- Kah was most recently assistant coach at MLS club Charlotte FC
- His playing career includes ten caps for Norway

Football Careers are delighted to see client Pa-Modou Kah appointed as Phoenix Rising FC Head Coach. He joins the 2023 USL Championship-winning side after previously being Assistant Coach at Charlotte FC.
Kah was born in Banjul, The Gambia before his family moved to Norway when he was eight years old. He began his playing career at well-known Oslo-based Valerenga, playing across the world, including at Roda in The Netherlands, Al Khor in Qatar ad Portland and Vancouver Whitecaps in the US/Canada’s top tier. He was also capped ten times by Norway.
He moved into coaching after his playing career concluded in 2016, becoming Assistant at Vancouver’s ‘2’ side. He’s held numerous roles since, including being both a Scout and Assistant at MLS side Cincinnati and a Canadian Premier League winning manager with Greater Victoria side Pacific FC.
Kah joins Phoenix Rising after a disappointing 2024 campaign for the Arizona side. Rising won the Championship in 2023, defeating Charleston Battery in a penalty shootout, yet finished the most recent season in 8th place in the regular season and were knocked out in the first round of the play-offs by New Mexico United.
Kah’s experience of North American soccer – as a player, scout and coach – make him the ideal candidate for this role. The foundations are there at Phoenix Rising, who play their home games at the Phoenix Rising Soccer Stadium in front of 10,000 fans in America’s second division, for a fruitful partnership.
Speaking to the club, Kah said:
“I’m here because Phoenix Rising has the ambition and the drive to maintain its status as one of the top clubs in the USL Championship, with a commitment to bringing home more hardware and developing players.”
We’re excited to see what Kah and Phoenix can achieve with each other and wish them all the best for the 2025 season.
