Football Careers is happy to announce that client Phil Gordon has been appointed Lead YDP Coach at Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Most recently, Phil served as Academy Head Coach at MLS side DC United from August 2023.
Phil has held a variety of coaching positions in the US, including Assistant Coach at UCF Women’s Soccer, Assistant Coach at Orlando Pride, and several roles at Orlando City SC, where he spent just under eight years. While at the Florida side, he was U15 Academy Head Coach, Senior Boys Director, Boys ECNL Director (Youth Soccer), Assistant Developmental Academy Coach, and Youth Soccer Staff Coach.
He has received glowing feedback throughout his career, with Ali Krieger – a former Orlando Pride, NJ/NY Gotham FC, and US women’s national team player – stating:
“Phil really makes you a better person and player by challenging you in a supportive, yet demanding way. I was trying to figure out my career and reached out to Phil and asked if I could train with one of his youth boys teams. It greatly impacted my career and positively changed me forever. The sessions were fresh, new, and fun, he inspired me. He helped me get better in order to reach my personal goals as a footballer.”
Phil also holds a number of different licences and certifications within the professional game, including an Academy Director Licence from the U.S. Soccer Federation and both the UEFA A Licence and UEFA Elite Youth A Licence from the Scottish Football Association. His commitment to furthering himself and his career is exemplary.
We’re thrilled for Phil here at Football Careers and wish both him and Nottingham Forest all the best for the future, with the club looking to reestablish themselves as a long-term member of England’s top flight.
