Queen's Park Welcomes Sean Crighton as B Team Head Coach
- The UEFA A Licence holder has worked with a number of clubs at Academy, reserve, and first-team level, establishing a strong track record in player development
- Crighton has wide-ranging experience as both a player and coach in Scottish football
Following a successful recruitment campaign, Football Careers is pleased to support Sean Crighton as he joins Queen’s Park FC as B Team Head Coach.
Crighton — a skilled defender who began his career as a youth player in St Mirren’s Academy — has made over 550 appearances for football clubs across Scotland, including Airdrieonians, Stenhousemuir, Livingston, Montrose, and most recently, Dumbarton.
The 34-year-old began making steps into coaching early in his playing career and in 2012, he took up the role of Academy Coach with his former club Greenock Morton. Crighton spent seven years helping to develop players within the Scottish Championship side’s Academy, and his success earned him multiple promotions to U18 Head Coach, Reserve Team and U20 Coach, and Head of Youth Pathway.
A dual player and coach remit at Airdrieonians gave the UEFA A Licence holder valuable experience working in a first-team environment, which he has used to bolster his coaching practices as he continues to build upon his outstanding track record in player development. The Football Careers client has also worked with the Scottish FA, delivering coaching sessions across its Performance School, School of Football, and 2020 Development Centres.
Since 2019, Crighton has been supporting players across Hamilton Academical’s Academy, working with the U15 and U16 age groups before being promoted to U18 Head Coach in 2021 — a position he now leaves to lead the B Team at fellow Championship club Queen’s Park.
In his new role with the Glasgow-based side, Crighton will play a pivotal role in the development of the club’s young players, implementing innovative coaching strategies and fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the field. He will work closely with the First Team Manager on the transition of players between the B Team and first team squads, using his expertise in player development to help both teams excel.
We’re thrilled to have connected Queen’s Park with Sean through the provision of our bespoke recruitment services. We wish him all the best as he begins his position with Queen’s Park ahead of the new season.
