Raymond Hewitt named Head of Foundation Phase at St Mirren
- Hewitt has worked for the Scottish Premiership side since 2021 as an Academy Coach
Football Careers are excited to see client Raymond Hewitt named Head of Foundation Phase at St Mirren. Hewitt has been at the club since 2021 as an Academy Coach, in addition to working for Celtic as International Soccer Academy Manager.
He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, with other previous positions including International & Domestic Soccer Academy Coach at Celtic, Under-15 Academy Head Coach at Glasgow Girls FC, and Women’s Reserve Team Head Coach at Glasgow University.
During his time as International & Domestic Soccer Academy Coach at Celtic, Hewitt was responsible for planning Academy training sessions and delivering them to international partner clubs throughout the world. These clubs included Glenmuir United FC in Ireland, Hudiksvalls FF in Sweden, Calcio Camp in Italy, Napier Marist FC in New Zealand, and Elkhorn Soccer Club in the USA.
Hewitt is committed to constantly developing his skills. After attaining a Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science in 2019, he went on to complete a Master of Science in Football Science and Rehabilitation in 2022.
Hewitt also undertook a Sports Science Internship during his time with Motherwell and received glowing feedback from First Team Sports Scientist Andrew Boles, who said:
“Ray has played a valuable part of our sport science support in his time at Motherwell FC. He has shown he has the ability to adapt to our style of work, showing his competency with practical elements such as gym and pitch work, as well as with other support methods such as GPS analysis. Ray’s background in coaching is evident, he is confident in his delivery and well respected by the group.”
We’re extremely excited for Raymond and believe this role is the perfect fit for his expertise and experience. Football Careers wish him and St Mirren all the best in the coming seasons.
