Ross Wallace joins Burnley FC Women as Interim Head Coach
- Wallace spent five years as a player at The Clarets, helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2014
We’re thrilled to see client Ross Wallace appointed Interim Head Coach of Burnley FC Women. Wallace was most recently a First Team Coach at Fleetwood Town.
Before entering coaching, Wallace enjoyed an 18-year playing career. He progressed through Celtic’s youth system and featured for the first team for four years before moving to Sunderland. He also had spells at Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Fleetwood Town, and St Mirren.
Wallace’s longest tenure as a player, and the club he made the most appearances for, was Burnley. He played for the Clarets from 2010 to 2015, helping them achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2014. The ex-winger also won the Championship in 2007 with Sunderland, and the Scottish Premier League (as well as the Scottish League Cup and Scottish Cup) at Celtic.
In 2021, he began his coaching career at Burnley, working as a Professional Development Phase (PDP) Coach. Wallace stayed in the role for three years, before joining Fleetwood Town’s first-team setup.
Burnley FC Women sit at the top of the FA Women’s National League North – the third tier of women’s football in England – after seventeen games. With 47 points, they hold a slim lead over Wolves, who have 46 points with a game in hand. The Clarets will have a key showdown at Turf Moor against the Midlands side on 15th March 2026.
Everyone at Football Careers is wishing Ross and Burnley Women all the best for the rest of the season.
