Tommy Rowe Announced as Player-Coach at Manchester United’s Academy
- Rowe began his career at Manchester United's academy in 2002
- He most recently played for Doncaster Rovers in League Two
We’re thrilled to see Football Careers Client Tommy Rowe be announced as Player-Coach at his boyhood club Manchester United. Tommy will be a member of the club’s academy system.
Tommy began his career at United in 2002, and went on to play for Stockport County, Peterborough United, Wolves, Bristol City and most recently spending three years in his second spell at Doncaster Rovers. Predominantly a winger, Tommy has won two EFL Play-offs, for Stockport in 2007-08 and Peterborough in 2010-11, whilst also picking up individual honours – becoming Doncaster’s Player of the Year in 2021-22.
He is now transitioning into coaching and has already completed his UEFA B Licence and FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football. He has also spent a year at Burnley as a Coach for the Under 13 to Under 15 age group, where he assisted and supported the Academy Manager and coaching staff.
Dean Holden – who managed Tommy at Bristol City – had glowing words for him:
“Of all the professional players I’ve encountered over my 26-year career as a player, coach and manager, Tommy is one of the most diligent pros I’ve come across. Not content to just squeeze his own sponge dry he demands the same from those around him. A very positive character, Tommy will make an exceptional coach in the future.”
Tommy is in the perfect place for his future and we wish him all the best in his new role at Manchester United.
