Warren Feeney named as Weymouth Manager
- He has managed in England, Northern Ireland and Bulgaria
- Feeney's playing career saw him play for clubs such as Bournemouth and Luton
Football Careers are excited to announce that client Warren Feeney has been named as Weymouth manager. The National League South side currently sit in last place in the division.
Feeney had a long and storied playing career, featuring for clubs such as Bournemouth, Luton and Plymouth Argyle. He was a forward in his playing days, scoring over 75 league goals for the clubs he featured for. Feeney also accumulated 46 caps for Northern Ireland – scoring five goals.
He moved into management in 2014, when he took over Linfield in his home city of Belfast. In 2015 he joined EFL side Newport County as a Assistant Manager, and a year later he was promoted to the clubs manager. He’s also had spells in charge of Northern Irish sides Ards and Glentoran, Bulgarian side Pirin Blagoevgrad and London-based Welling United.
Feeney finds himself in charge of a side in desperate need for a positive influence. Weymouth have just twelve points after 20 games and sit seven points from safety at the time of writing. Scoring goals is the team’s major issue, with the least scored in the division – something Feeney will be looking to change.
He’s received the backing of the club’s chairman, Paul Maitland, who said…
“We are excited to have him join us, our primary mission is to remain in the National League South, and the board will support Warren in every possible way to achieve this goal. Looking beyond survival, our medium-term objective is for Weymouth Football Club to once again compete for league titles and push for promotion.”
Football Careers are confident that Warren will be a fruitful appointment for Weymouth, and wish him and the club all the best on their bid for survival and beyond in the coming years.
