Overview:

Football Careers is delighted to bring to market, on a retained basis, the position of B Team Head Coach, on behalf of our Client, Queen’s Park Football Club.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of their young players, implementing coaching strategies and fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the field. This position requires someone with strong leadership skills and previous experience and success within player development. We seek an individual that coaches an attacking, front foot style of football.
The B Team Head Coach will report to the Academy Director and work closely with the First Team Manager on the transition of players between the B Team and First Team squads.

Key Responsibilities:

Player Development:

  • Design and implement training programmes that focus on the holistic development of players, including technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects
  • Provide individualised coaching sessions to address specific player needs and areas for improvement
  • Monitor and track player progress, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations

Tactical Planning and Match Preparation:

  • Develop and implement tactical strategies that align with the club’s playing philosophy and style
  • Analyse opponents and devise game plans to exploit weaknesses and maximise our team’s strengths
  • Lead pre-match training sessions and team meetings to ensure players are prepared and motivated for upcoming matches

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Create a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasises teamwork, discipline, and accountability
  • Foster strong relationships with players, staff, and other stakeholders, promoting open communication and mutual respect
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to assistant coaches, support staff, and players, helping them reach their full potential

Recruitment and Talent Identification:

  • Assist in the identification and recruitment of talented young players who have the potential to progress to the first team
  • Scout games to identify emerging talent and maintain a database of potential recruits
  • Collaborate with the club’s Academy staff to ensure a seamless pathway for player development from youth to senior levels

Compliance and Professionalism:

  • Adhere to all club policies and procedures, including those related to player welfare, health and safety, and conduct
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of football regulations and governing bodies’ guidelines, ensuring compliance at all times
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for the club, representing its values and principles both on and off the field

The Person

  • UEFA A Licence (Essential), UEFA Pro Licence (Desirable)
  • Proven track record of success in coaching and developing young players
  • Coaches an attacking style of football
  • Strong understanding of football tactics, systems, and strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate groups of players and staff
  • Proficient in using video analysis and other coaching tools
  • Knowledge of player recruitment and scouting processes
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
