Mark Jackson wins AFC Cup with Central Coast Mariners
- Jackson joined the Mariners in September 2023
- The Mariners scored in the 84th minute to secure victory over Lebanese club Al Ahed
Football Careers is delighted to announce that client Mark Jackson has won the AFC Cup with Australian side Central Coast Mariners.
The English coach took on the role of Mariners Manager back in September 2023, having previously managed MK Dons and Leeds United U23s. Prior to this, Jackson had a professional football career spanning 15 years and 6 clubs, including Leeds United, Huddersfield Town and Rochdale AFC.
The AFC Cup final, which took place on Sunday, May 8 between Central Coast Mariners and Al Ahed, remained goalless until the 84th minute when Alou Kuol snatched a late goal to give the Mariners the victory.
Kuol’s late goal means the Mariners have become the first Australian side since Western Sydney Wanderers in 2014 to win an Asian title. This marks Jackson’s second trophy while in charge of the Mariners, following their first A-League premiership victory in a decade last month.
However, the English coach will have his eyes firmly set on a momentous treble. His side faces Sydney FC in an ALM first-leg semi-final tie on Friday, May 9 with hopes of progressing to the ALM grand final.
Here at Football Careers we congratulate Mark on his recent success and wish him all the best for his upcoming ALM semi-final fixture.
