Dean Gibson Steps into Key Recruitment Role at Southampton FC
- Gibson's new role with the Saints will also involve leading the recruitment of the Under 21s
Dean Gibson is settling into his new role at Southampton FC after being appointed Recruitment Manager for the Women’s first team.
Football Careers client Dean takes up the post after a brief spell with hometown club Dunfermline FC as the Pars Foundation’s Football Development Manager.
He said: “It’s a really exciting club to be joining in a really demanding league. The role will also entail looking after the recruitment of the Under 21s. My first week in the job was brilliant – Southampton are an unbelievable club with a welcoming group of staff and players.”
Dean brings to the role a wealth of experience in women’s football after more than a decade as a coach in Scotland.
Three of those years were spent as manager of the Hibernian Women’s first team, whom he led to two fourth-place finishes in the SWFL and a Sky Sports League Cup Final before leaving at the end of the 2022-23 season.
He also played a key role in moving the Hibees team towards professional status.
He said: “I’m proud of what we achieved at Hibs. It was an exciting time for me, but I wanted to take a step back from the management side of the game and move into the recruitment side. My passion lies in recruiting and developing players and I am delighted to have joined Southampton.”
