Gary Crooks Begins a New Role as Technical Director at Vancouver Rangers
- The UEFA A Licence holder first moved to Canada from Scotland to take up a post at Calgary Rangers in Alberta
- Gary's new role sees him join a leading youth club in British Columbia
Gary Crooks is the new Technical Director of top Canadian youth club Vancouver Rangers. The Football Careers client first took the plunge and emigrated from his native Scotland 13 months ago when he moved into a new post at Calgary Rangers.
Now he has switched provinces to travel from Alberta to British Columbia to take up his next challenge and he said:
“I’m thrilled to have this new role and I can’t wait to get started. I wanted to continue my Canadian adventure, and this is a great place to do that.”
UEFA A Licence coach Gary — who played in Hibernian’s youth Academy in his younger days — began his career in sport with top scholarship and recruitment firm FirstPoint USA, which recently announced a partnership with Football Careers.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from the University of Rhode Island, where he played Varsity football, and a Master’s in Sports Management from the University of Stirling, he is the sort of rounded professional North American clubs will always be attracted to.
Gary spent five years with Scottish giants Rangers as their Overseas Development Officer before returning to FirstPoint as Director of Sport ahead of his decision to move to Canada.
Now he heads up the mission to deliver high-quality coaching and player development to a leading club in one of Canada’s most beautiful cities.
