Goalkeeping coach Alex Connon brings his experience and expertise to Falkirk
- The UEFA Goalkeeping A Licence holder joins Scottish League One’s Falkirk from Scottish League Two side Bonnyrigg Rose
- Connon’s impressive coaching career has seen him work with several football clubs across Scotland, including Rangers, Hibernian, Hearts, Edinburgh City, and Annan Athletic
Alex Connon is settling into a new position as goalkeeping coach at Scottish League One’s Falkirk. Before joining the Bairns, Connon held the same role at Bonnyrigg Rose, who gained promotion to Scottish League Two after winning the 2021/22 Lowland Football League.
UEFA Goalkeeping A Licence holder Connon has an extensive career history, having coached and mentored First-Team and Academy goalkeepers at a number of clubs across Scotland.
In addition to his work with Scottish clubs — including Rangers, Hibernian, Hearts, Edinburgh City, and Annan Athletic — Connon has garnered experience at the national level with the Scottish FA, where he is a National Youth Goalkeeping Coach and UEFA Course Tutor.
Connon’s appointment as goalkeeping coach sees him take up his second role with Falkirk: he first worked with the club as Academy Head of Goalkeeping in 2008.
The skilled coach joins a side led by fellow Football Careers client John McGlynn, who was appointed manager of the Scottish League One side in 2022. McGlynn won Scottish League One’s Manager of the Month award twice in a row in early 2023 and guided Falkirk to a second-place finish in last season’s league table.
With a wealth of experience in the Scottish game, Connon promises to be a key part of McGlynn’s backroom team as the club strives to build upon the successes of the previous season.
Falkirk will begin their Scottish League Cup campaign with an away fixture to Spartans on Tuesday 18th July and will open their 2023/24 Scottish League One season at home to Annan Athletic on Saturday 5th August.
