- In his playing days, Stack chalked up over 300 appearances with clubs like Arsenal, Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds United, and Hibernian
Graham Stack’s professional playing days saw him represent clubs in England, Belgium, Scotland, and India. After progressing through Arsenal’s Academy, the former goalkeeper chalked up over 300 appearances with clubs like Reading, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds United, and Hibernian in his senior career.
Now, Stack begins the next stage of his coaching journey overseas following his appointment as goalkeeping coach at Maccabi Tel Aviv. The 41-year-old’s move will see him team up with Robbie Keane, who was recently named the Israeli Premier League side’s new head coach.
Stack began his coaching journey with Watford as First Team Goalkeeping Coach and Academy Goalkeeping Coordinator. After four years with the Vicarage Road outfit, he joined EFL Championship side Cardiff City in June 2022 — but a change of manager saw him move on from that position.
In March 2023, Stack became First Team Goalkeeping Coach at Colchester United, where he contributed to the club’s success in retaining its EFL League Two status.
The Football Careers client now takes up an exciting role alongside Keane in the Israeli Premier League.
Colchester United Football Club confirmed Stack’s exit in a statement on their website, reading in part:
“Colchester United Goalkeeper Coach Graham Stack has departed to join Maccabi Tel Aviv.
“Stack played a crucial role as the U’s maintained their EFL status last season, including helping the team to keep three clean sheets in their last six matches.
“The former Watford coach joins his new manager, Robbie Keane, in the Israeli Premier League with Maccabi Tel Aviv and leaves with the best wishes from everyone at Colchester United.”
Stack will be a key member of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s coaching staff along with former Republic of Ireland international Rory Delap, who will be at Keane’s side as assistant head coach.
Maccabi Tel Aviv are currently preparing to face Moldovan side FC Petrocub Hîncești in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League on Thursday 27th July.
